Mempraktik Kemahiran Bertutur dalam Bahasa Arab dan Khidmat Sosial Melalui Pembelajaran Berasaskan Projek

Antara masalah yang sering dihadapi oleh penutur bahasa kedua terutamanya bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa kedua atau asing di Malaysia ialah peluang untuk mempraktik bahasa tersebut di luar bilik darjah dan kuliah. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, kajian ini telah dilakukan untuk mengenal pasti sejauhmana persepsi pelajar program Ijazah Sarjana Muda Pengajian Islam (Bahasa Arab Terjemahan) terhadap keupayaan mereka berkomunikasi depan khalayak umum, mempraktik kemahiran bahasa di luar bilik kuliah dan melakukan khidmat sosial serta promosi institusi kepada khalayak secara tidak langsung melalui pembelajaran berasaskan projek. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif dengan menganalisis data temu bual bersama 10 orang peserta yang melaksanakan projek ini secara berkumpulan. Temu bual tersebut dilaksanakan selepas projek tamat dan data dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk mengenal pasti kemahiran komunikasi yang diperoleh dan penglibatan pelajar melalui program bersama masyarakat di luar kampus. Dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa projek ini sesuai dilaksanakan menerusi pelbagai bentuk dan platform sama ada bersemuka atau digital. Peserta kajian yang terlibat juga dapat mempraktik kemahiran asas dan tatabahasa di luar bilik kuliah untuk pemerolehan bahasa, meningkatkan kemahiran interpersonal, menjalankan khidmat sosial serta dalam masa yang sama menjalankan promosi bagi pihak institusi.
Among the problems that are often faced by second language speakers, especially Arabic as a second or foreign language in Malaysia is the opportunity to practice the language beyond classroom and lectures. To overcome the problem, this study was conducted to identify students' perceptions in Bachelor of Islamic Studies (Arabic Language and Translation) towards the ability to effectively communicate with audience, practicing language skills outside traditional classroom and performing social service and institutional marketing indirectly through project-based learning. This study uses qualitative method by analysing data from interview with 10 participants who have conducted this project in group. Yet the interview was conducted after the project ended and data were analysed descriptively to identify communication skills acquired and students’ involvement through community service programs outside the campus. Findings showed that this project is suitable to be implemented through various forms and platforms, either via face-to-face or digital basis. Participants involved in this study can also practice basic skills and grammar outside the classroom for the purpose of acquiring language, improving interpersonal skills, conducting community services and simultaneously integrating marketing planning on behalf of the institution.
